October Tasting                                                                                                                            

I welcomed 64 members to “Whose wine is it anyway” presented by members Caryl and Gordon Sellars at Restaurant Punta Negre. Gordon introduced the tasting by announcing that as usual members would receive three presentations from himself, Caryl, and Mary Anderton for each wine to be tasted but only one would be correct for the wine being tasted. The task was to decide who is telling the truth and who is bluffing. Members were first asked to identify the correct wine and the table which got the most correct would receive a prize.  Once the truth was revealed, members scored the wine in the usual way.  A more detailed report on the tasting can be found on the web site under “Tastings – Recent Tastings” or by clicking on October Tasting.

Membership

Your membership will be due for renewal by 1st January and is 20 euros per person.   If you wish to renew it in November at the tasting at Ca La Iaia, Shirley Sloggie and Ron Watson will be happy to take your cash and give you a receipt.   If you wish to pay by bank transfer then please do so to the CBWS account at the BBVA, Account number 08504414, IBAN: ES777 0182 3216 6392 0850 4414 BIC Code BBVAESMM.   Your name does not always show up on the bank statement so please just write your SURNAME in the remarks on the transfer.   We will know what it is for by the amount of 20 euros per person.

November Tasting

The November tasting will take place at Ca La Iaia on 15th November at 19.30 hours.   The wines to be tasted will come from Bodegas Vinicola Real.

Please remember that the booking deadline is now the FRIDAY before the tasting.  If you have to cancel after the deadline you will still have to pay! Reservations and choice of main course please to: Penny Floodgate Tel: 965794996 or email pennyfloodgate@gmail.com  Reservations must be received no later than the deadline 12.00 noon on Friday 9th November. Penny will always confirm receipt of your booking.  If you have made a reservation and do not receive a confirmation from Penny you are not booked, so in that case please check with her.
