March Tasting

62 members met at the La Senia in Denia for the March tasting. This restaurant has a nice cosy atmosphere and serves excellent food, setting the scene for members to enjoy the evening.  I welcomed  members for a tasting of Vinos de Pago conducted by Society members Cherry and Tony Cabban.   Cherry gave an introduction to the tasting and an excellent and detailed dissertation on Vinos de Pago and Tony presented each of the five wines tasted in perfect detail.   The cost of each wine, where it can be purchased and average score given by members is shown in the list of wines tasted in 2016, which can be found by clicking on “Wines tasted in 2016”.   A full report on the tasting can be found by clicking on “March Tasting”

Dress Code

May I remind members that the dress code for men on tasting evenings is jacket with tie preferred, but optional.   Ladies as appropriate.

Wine Fair

The XV Wine Fair of Spanish wines will be held at the Tennis club in Sol Park, Moraira on the 5th and 6th of May from 13.00 to 20.00.   Entrance Free.   11 bodegas, all from different DO will have wines available for tasting and for sale

April Tasting

The April tasting will be held at Ca La Iaia on 21st April. Please note bookings must be received by Monday 11th April. This is a week earlier than is normal.  We will be tasting wines from Bodega Añadas (Care wine) from D O Carinena

Reservations and choice of main course please to: Penny Floodgate Tel 96 579 4996 or email pennyfloodgate@gmail.com.   Reservations no later than the deadline 12.00 noon on Monday 11th April. PLEASE NOTE THIS EARLIER DEADLINE FOR BOOKING.  Cancellations and no shows after the deadline are liable for payment. Penny will always confirm your booking. If you do not receive confirmation from Penny then you are not booked in.     

LATE CANCELLATIONS AFTER THE MONDAY DEADLINE TO PENNY FLOODGATE Tel: 96 579 4996 or Penny’s email address ONLY AND NOT DIRECTLY TO THE RESTAURANT. Places will be allocated by a draw from the bag. Therefore there is no need for early arrival to secure your places.

DOORS WILL OPEN AT 19.30; this will allow the committee to arrange seating and tables.  Please do not arrive before this time as it makes it extremely difficult to set up the restaurant. We would rather you arrive late than early!
