CHRISTMAS FUNCTION – Parador Jávea 12 Dec 2013
After an absence of 6 years, the Society met again at the Parador in Jávea to celebrate their Christmas function, the last function of the year. Unlike the previous 9, this was not a tasting but just enjoyment of good food and wine. However it was the occasion for prizes to be presented for the Wine Taster of the year, based on scores members achieved during those previous 9 tastings. The winners were:
1st Andrew Johnson, our current President
2nd Keith Pacey, Past President
3rd a tie between, Renate Pluis and Per Ramvall

JANUARY MEETING – Thursday January 16th at La Senia Restaurant,

We are introducing a new style of evening, which we call “Whose wine is it anyway?” This is a Call my Bluff or Liars Club manner of event. Each of our 5 wines will be presented by 3 different “bluffers”. The members attending will be invited to vote for which they think is telling the truth. And before you score each wine the reality will be revealed. There will certainly be wine that you should recognise. But there might also be some new labels. We are limiting attendance to accommodate us comfortably inside at La Senia. As a result, this will be a members only event.

Reservations no later than the deadline 12.00 noon on Friday 10th January, cancellations and no shows after the deadline are liable for payment. Penny will always confirm your booking. If you do not receive confirmation from Penny then you are not booked in.
Seating will be allocated by a draw from the bag.
Therefore there is no need for early arrival to secure your places.
THE DOORS WILL OPEN AT 19.30.
This will allow the committee to arrange seating and tables.
OUT OF CONSIDERATION FOR OTHER ATTENDEES, MEMBERS ARE EXPECTED TO RESPECT THE TABLE NUMBERS DRAWN.

2014 WINE TRIP
The 2014 Wine Trip will take place from the 5th to 9th May, when the Society will visit Ribera del Duero. Full details of the trip together with the booking arrangements are given on the Society’s web page www.costablancawinesociety.com by clicking on this or under the Trips section.
