A full house of 69 Members assembled at Ca La Iaia for the last tasting of the year, December being the Christmas function. Four red wines from their Bruma range were being presented by Elena and Loles from Bodegas Viñaelena which is located in DO Jumilla. The word Bruma means mist and reflects the early morning mists which they have in the valley where their winery is situated. This family run bodega, one of the oldest in the region has initiated a project with the idea of making and marketing 100% Monastrell wines but combining the qualities of this variety with diversity of climates and soils that exist within Jumilla. Three of the four red wines were 100% Monastrell; the fourth was a Cabernet Sauvignon. Wine Trip 2016
Next year’s wine trip will take place from the 2nd to the 5th May staying in Toledo and visiting three Vino de Pago bodegas and two in DO Méntrida. Hot News, January Tasting
The January tasting will be held in Restaurant Punta Negra, Hotel Rotes in Denia, on 21st January 2016 and the hotel has just announced that if you book a room today (Black Friday) or the 28th and 29th November you will obtain a discount of 50% on their normal room price during the months of December, January and February.
The Christmas function will be held on 10th December at Restaurant La Senia, The Hotel Nou Roma, Denia. Note this is the second Thursday of the month and is a members only function. Dress for the occasion is black tie or dark lounge suit for gentlemen and the appropriate glamorous dresses for the ladies. For our Christmas tasting I have selected some wines we have tasted over the year and also some other wines so prepare your palates!
We are also presenting prizes to the CBWS Wine Taster of the Year. The restaurant can accommodate 62 members so please book early to ensure your place.
