Newsletter July 2021

Dear Members,

Welcome to our July Newsletter and I hope you are enjoying the summer weather wherever you are.

On June 15 we organised an online AGM. The original plan was to do this when we could physically all meet up, however the current regulations did not allow this. The minutes of the AGM are posted on the website (click here) and I ask everyone to read these so that you are fully aware of the Society’s objectives for the future.

On June 17 we had a very informative Zoom tasting hosted by Neville Richardson This tasting was enjoyed by 25 members on the subject of ‘Eco, biodynamic, natural, organic, sustainable – do these titles mean anything? Clever marketing tools or the future of wine?’ To ensure that participants got the most enjoyment out of the presentation, participants were encouraged to enjoy a glass of wine during the talk. Click here to see tasting report on the webpage.

In July and August we will not be meeting but are optimistic that favourable conditions will prevail for us to meet up at Restaurante Puerto Blanco, Calpe in September

Therefore on Thursday September 16 our plan is to hold the meeting outside in the garden with the usual spacing of tables. This is intended to be a get-together social event rather than an actual tasting. We will have pre-selected wines for you to enjoy, so please try to attend this “Welcome Back” event

To enable us to plan the number of attendees can you please advise me if you will be in Spain in September and would plan to attend. This is important in organising possible numbers with the restaurant. You do not need to reply if you would not be attending.

Best wishes, happy wine-drinking and enjoy the summer!
