In the view of the increasing concerns over Covid 19 both nationally and locally by Javea Town Hall, sadly your Committee has felt it necessary to postpone this tasting .

Dear Members,

Welcome to our March Newsletter and I hope that those of you residing in Spain are enjoying our spring-like weather accompanied by some nice wines!

The February tasting was a first for CBWS having secured the agreement from the Michelin star restaurant Bon Amb for their Sommelier Enrique Garcia to give us an insight into his role and what it involves and how they manage their large selection of wines at this prestigious restaurant.

62 members and guests attended this tasting at Restaurante La Senia, in Denia and feedback from members was that this was an interesting insight into wine selection and pairing with high quality food. At last month’s AGM we asked members to help the Committee by writing a report for only one tasting which has an easy to follow format and we will be in touch with you soon to ask for your help. This would be very much appreciated by the Committee. This of course depends upon your attendance.

Now to our next tasting which will be held on Thursday March 19 at a new venue Restaurant Los Amigos, Avda Libertad 30, Local 29-30, Javea. This is situated at the Arenal behind the beach with easy parking. This has been recommended by a number of members and that is why we want to try it.

Wine Presenter – John Davis, Wine Expert, London based.

John has an extensive knowledge of wines at the top end and has traded in these for many years. The tasting John will be presenting will give you a fascinating insight into grape varieties and blends.

Some have you have attended John’s previous presentation so you know you won’t be disappointed.

This tasting is open to guests and particularly to any interested friends who would like to join our society.


Important Note for members please make sure you book early for this event as we want to make sure everyone can be accommodated.

Please remember the change to the Guest Booking System where we hope to make it easier when members are inviting guests.

If you are bringing guests Penny will confirm guest places 2 weeks prior to the tasting. So, for the March tasting, guest places will be confirmed after 12 noon on Friday March 6. Any bookings taken after this, for both Members and guests, will be subject to availability. Bookings will close as usual the Friday before the tasting which, for this month, is 12.00 noon on FRIDAY March 13. 

Any cancellations after the deadline will still require payment to be made for you and/or your guests.   Reservations and choice of main course please to: Penny Floodgate Tel: 96 579 4996 or email:   Penny will always confirm receipt of your booking.  If you have made a reservation and do not receive a confirmation from Penny you are not booked, so in that case please check with her.

The drinks reception will start at 7.30pm but please do not arrive earlier as the Committee are preparing the tables for the evening.

Our closed Facebook Group is now up and running so please contact Sandy on if you would like to be invited to join.  This is a light-hearted group where members can share their wine experiences and information.
