Welcome to our March Newsletter. The February tasting was hosted by Gordon and Caryl Sellars at a new venue for CBWS Republic Lounge on Denia Marina.
On a spring-like evening with a beautiful sunset over the mountains and marina we welcomed 50 members and 4 guests. This was the first tasting arranged by our Tasting Team and it did not disappoint as you would expect!

This year with the newly formed Tasting Team we will be enjoying a variety of different events which, for sure you will enjoy.
Next Tasting March 17, 2022
On 17 March we return to Los Amigos restaurant in Javea for our next tasting event. In November of last year, we had an excellent experience in our first visit to this venue and our Menus and Venues team have negotiated an even better menu for this visit.
As part of our new approach to monthly events, this one will be hosted by Sara and Neville Richardson and will include a wine related quiz. You can be assured that this is not an examination of your detailed wine knowledge. It will be a fun event with wine-related (sometimes very loosely!) questions and prizes for the winning table.
The wines to be served are all from the excellent Los Aljibes vineyard, near Albacete, which was visited by CBWS members several years ago and whose owner, Manuel Morante presented to us via Zoom during lockdown. Neville and Sara visited the vineyard recently to select the wines and have negotiated some very good prices, so the wines will be available for order during the event and made available to all members to order after the event. This could be an excellent opportunity to stock up for this year’s visits of family and friends!

Dress code: smart casual with optional ties and the usual attire for the ladies.
Bookings will close as usual the Friday before the tasting which, for this month, is 12.00 noon on FRIDAY March 11. Guest’s places will be confirmed on the previous FRIDAY. Please ensure you make your booking in good time.
Any cancellations after the deadline will still require payment to be made for you and/or your guests. If you have made a reservation and do not receive a confirmation from Penny you are not booked, so in that case please check with her.

Please remember to include in the payment reference the names of the people being paid for and the event – in this case for example: “John Doe and Jane Doe March tasting”.
- Do not make a payment until you have received confirmation from Penny.
- As soon as Penny confirms your place you should make the payment.
- Members should pay for their guests in this manner so that no payment is received from a non-member.
- Please do not use a non-Spanish bank for this purpose – the charges can be horrific. If you do not have a Spanish account please get in touch with Mike Granville
- Please make your payment as soon as possible after Penny has confirmed your place – don’t leave it until the last minute to make your transfer

Setting up a recipient on your Spanish bank account takes a few minutes, but once done payments to that recipient just take a few clicks. Many members have paid their membership subscriptions by bank transfer in the past, and new members have been required to do that for some time.
WHEN MAKING A BANK TRANSFER THERE IS ALWAYS A SPACE TO INCLUDE A REFERENCE. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU ENTER THE NAMES OF THE PEOPLE BEING PAID FOR AND THE EVENT.
