Next Tasting There were no tasting meetings in July and August, so our next tasting meeting will be on the 18th September at La Senia, The Hotel Nou Roma, Denia, when we will have Past President’s Pairings, given by three past presidents of the society, Keith Pacey who will present 2 white wines, Rod Anderton who will present 2 red wines and Gaby Ferenczy who will present a further 2 red wines. We had a similar tasting last year which proved very popular and I have no doubt that this year we will be similarly impressed and entertained.

Places will be allocated by a draw from the bag. Therefore there is no need for early arrival to secure your places. THE DOORS WILL OPEN AT 19.30.This will allow the committee to arrange seating and tables.
The cost of the evening for the members will be Euros 30 and for guests it will be Euros 35.
New Web Page A new page, under the heading of Tastings is on our web site www.costablancawinesociety.com which lists all the wines so far tasted in 2014, together with the price and average points awarded by members.
Next Wine Trip. The next wine Trip is in the autumn and will be to DO Bullas and takes place from the 21/22nd October. Full details of the trip, including cost and booking arrangements are on the Society’s web page www.costablancawinesociety.com under the heading of Trips
Committee meeting On June 6th we had the second committee meeting of my tenure as president. A number of issues were discussed and agreed amongst which were the following:-
1) We will endeavour to improve the seating arrangements at Ca La Iaia in view a number of complaints we have received. This may involve reducing the maximum allowable number of people at this venue.
2) As some of you will be aware, rising costs at some of our dining locations has put pressure on us to increase our standard charge of 30 Euros for members. Since we are reluctant to reduce the standard of the food and indeed have a stated objective to improve the quality and increase the diversity of the wines that we taste, then this charge may have to be increased in the future. However it has been decided to subsidise tasting from the club’s reserves during this year and to keep the same standard charge until after the AGM in February 2015.
3) We currently have a waiting list of 6 persons wishing to join the club,(Maximum numbers are set at 120 due to limitations in capacity at some of our tasting locations) Some membership applications are received directly via our web site. As a committee we believe it more sensible only to receive applications from persons who have already attended tastings as a guest of a member.
Caryl and I will be looking forward to renewing acquaintance with many of you in the near future after the long hot summer.
