The wines were all from the Catalunya winery of Vinyes del Terrer and were presented by the winery owner Eduard Morell. The main vineyards are in the village of Vila-seca, 2 kilometres from the Mediterranean. The soil, called Lumaquela is unique to this area, being calcareous due to the abundance of marine fossils, carbonate and limestone, and gives the wines minerality. Its appearance is pale yellow, the nose has hints of lemon, lime, minerality and salinity, with a creamy structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NUS del Terrer white 2019 Sauvignon Blanc grape. \u20ac17.97 (\u20ac107.82 for a case of 6 bottles)\u20ac17.97 (\u20ac107.82 for a case of 6 bottles)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A really interesting expression of Sauvignon Blanc which is fermented in stainless steel tanks and afterwards half is aged in concrete eggs and half in french oak barrels.The nose has a mineral character, with flavours of aromatic plants, citrus fruits and herbaceous touches. The palate has a good level of complexity and is very well balanced with a unique salinity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NUS del Terrer 2017 85% Grenache, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon<\/strong> <strong>\u20ac12.37 (\u20ac74.22 for a case of 6 bottles)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first fermentation is in oak foudres followed by 14 months of ageing in French oak barrels. This is also an elegant and complex wine with flavours of red and black fruit. It has a savoury quality with a good level of acidity and fine rounded tannins. It maintains a fresh, long and pleasant finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Terrer d\u2019Aubert 2019, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache grapes.<\/strong> <strong>\u20ac8.25 (\u20ac49.50 for a case of 6 bottles)\u2002\u2002\u2002<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a complex and elegant wine which is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels and amphorae. On the nose there are hints of red and black fruit with hints of minerality and saline .The taste has a very good balance of fruit and acidity with fine elegant tannins and a long pleasant finish.\u2002\u2002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Terrenal d\u2019Aubert 2020 -sweet red wine from 85%Grenache and 15%Cabernet Sauvignon.<\/strong> \u20ac<strong>\u20029.08 (37.5cl bottle)(\u20ac54.48 for a case of 6 bottles)\u2002\u2002\u2002\u2002<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This sweet red wine is fermented in stainless steel for 20 days. To achieve the sweetness, fermentation is stopped by cooling and then mascerated on the skins for 40 days to maximise the flavour extraction. It is then aged in French oak for 10 months. It is a deep red colour. The nose has intense aromas of red fruits, cocoa and vanilla with a mineral background. On the palate it is lightly sweet with a pleasant persistent finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An excellent evening attended by 48 members and guests at Javea Golf Club. Eduard Morell is an excellent presenter, bringing to life the care and passion which he and his family have for their vines and wines.CBWS members have a great opportunity to buy these wines at a very substantial discount to normal retail prices.
