As usual for our first tasting of a new year it was a look back at our highest scoring wines of 2025. We did not score the wines this time. It was a very good tasting. All the wines were excellent, and the food was also of a very high quality. This wine is aged for 8 months in new French Oak barrels It is a pale lemon colour with Intense aromas of pear, yellow stone fruits, freshly baked bread and a hint of<br>fresh sea breeze. It tastes of fresh exotic fruits, such as papaya, vanilla, toasted oaks and stony minerals with a prominent acidity. We tasted this wine in March 2025.  Penin: 89<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Wine 2 Name and Vintage<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Mirada Ros\u00e9 2024 VDT Castilla, Hammeken Cellars 100% Bobal<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Price per bottle<\/td><td><strong>\u20ac7.25<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Wine 2 Description<\/td><td>It is an organic wine, from 15 year old vines, grown at an altitude of 600-800m. Harvested in the early morning and aged in stainless steel.  It is a pale pink, with aromas of strawberry, citrus and rose petals. It has an agreeable acidic finish with a touch of minerality. We tasted this in March 2025.<br>Penin: 90<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Wine 3 Name and Vintage<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Por Ti, Monastrell, Cabernet Sauvignon from Bodega Luzon in Jumilla DO<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Price per bottle<\/td><td><strong>\u20ac22.70<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Wine 3 Description<\/td><td>This is a rich full-bodied red with cherry red with a garnet rim. Fruit on the nose, with aromas of ripe red fruit, spices \u2013 cocoa, liquorice, pepper and earthy hints of dried herbs, toasted oak and coffee. It has a taste of jammy dark fruits, sweet spices and chocolate. We tasted this in September 2025<br>Penin: 93<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Wine 4 Name and Vintage<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>El Primer Paso, 100% tinta de toro from Bodega Dominio del Bendito in the DO of Toro<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Price per bottle<\/td><td><strong>\u20ac12.10<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Wine 4 Description<\/td><td>It is made tinta de toro which is a smaller type of tempranillo grape.  These grapes are picked by hand from the Jara and Valdefinjas vineyards at an altitude of 720m. The vines are between 15 and 45<br>years old.  It is aged for over 6 months in a combination of American and French oak barrels. The wine is a deep purple colour with hints of<br>violet. It has aromas of blueberries and blackberries with toasted notes of coffee, cocoa and liquorice. We tasted this in February. Penin: 92.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Wine 5 Name and Vintage<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Las Ocho, Pago Chozas de Carrascal in DO of Valencia<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Price per bottle<\/td><td><strong>\u20ac30<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Wine 5 Description<\/td><td>It is a blend of eight grapes Monastrell, Bobal, Garnacha Tinta, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Tempranillo. We<br>tasted this in October 2025.  Intense ruby red with aromas of a mix of ripe fruit, balsamic notes, toasted oak, including hints of coffee, vanilla, and<br>chocolate are common. Taste is powerful and meaty with a robust structure. The wine is balanced with mature, round tannins that provide a smooth, lingering finish.
