Online Tasting January 21, 2021
25 members joined our first Zoom Meeting this year which was hosted by Tim and Sandy Fawle.
Participants were asked to buy a white, rosado and a red from any country which should be a single grape variety. If people only wanted to taste 2 wines then that was fine.
Everyone was sent a copy of The Wine Wheel with a guide on how to use it. If you click on the link www.winearomawheel.com you will also find some interesting information on the Wheel. Back in 2015 we used this at a Tutorial Tasting and it was very helpful in determining the description for the wines being tasted.
Each participant was asked to describe the main characteristics of their wine as indicated on the Wine Wheel. As everyone has a different palate it was interesting to compare our viewpoints. This was shared with the group with a variance of opinions.
Everyone had selected their grape variety for the white wines which were Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Macabeo/Viura, Albariño, Verdejo, Tempranillo Blanco, Godello, Viognier and Txakoli . The Rosado grapes were Tempranillo and Garnacha and red grapes were Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Bobal, Prieto Picudo, Garnacha Negra and Malbec.
Next on line tasting on the 3rd Thursday of each month.
