Tasting Report April 2025
CBWS Tasting held on 24/04/2025 at Club Nautico, Denia and attended by 61 members and guests
An open tasting of five wines presented in a “Pour my Bluff” format where each TRUE wine was presented with two alternative BLUFF wines by a team of three presenters (Tony Salter, Gro Salter and Fergus Fitzpatrick) and the members needed to decide who was presenting the real wine.

| Wine 1 Description | Very enjoyable still white from Penedes – Cava country.100% Garnaxa – 12.7% made from indigenous yeasts, organic & natural. No oak. Very low touch.With the white fruit and dried herb notes that characterize the variety, the palate is savoury, unctuous and with a cleansing bitterness. Without wood, unpretentious, but well elaborated. |

| Wine 2 Description | Very good white Rioja, made with 58% Viura, 22% Malvasia and 20% Garnacha Blanca. Aged 9 months in French oak barrels. Bright straw yellow in color. Pear, green apple, vanilla and mineral notes on the nose. Medium-bodied, balanced, refreshing, crispy acidity, citrus fruit and mineral notes in the mouth, with good long finish. |

| Wine 3 Description | Miraval Studio is a rosé wine produced at Château Miraval in Provence, France.The 2022 vintage is a blend of Cinsault, Grenache Noir, Rolle (Vermentino), and Tibouren grapes, and is known for its delicate pink hue, refreshing flavors of wild berries, ripe peach, and pink grapefruit. The name “Studio” refers to the estate’s recording studio, which was renovated in 2022. |

| Wine 4 Description | Zarzuela Selección 2019 is a Spanish red wine from the Ribera del Duero region, made with Tempranillo (Tinto Fino) grapes. This wine has an intense garnet red color, with notes of black fruits and spices on the nose, and a silky, structured body on the palate. It is aged in French and American oak barrels for 16 months. |

| Wine 5 Description | A classy red wine from the Utiel Requena region made from Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Claret with slate tones. A clean aroma with spicy, smokey notes of pepper. Well rounded and velvety with Aromatic and smooth notes and a long supple finish. |
A fun evening and a lively crowd. The tasting team (Tony, Gro and Fergus) had lots of fun, but Gro had serious competition from Fergus who charmed the crowd when he wasn’t accusing Tony of an excess of “Blarney”
