Spain Boasts the World’s most expensive Wine (probably)!

Situated not far from us here just outside Cuenca is Bodega Aurum Wine and they have a rather special Aurum Red Gold. Their production is tiny at only 300 bottles a year but only half that number are available for sale. If you do decided to buy one it will cost you around £25000 – but don’t worry that does include delivery to your door!! To read the very interesting story from the BBC click here

If you buy a bottle I will be happy to come and share it with you 🙂

Gaby Ferenczy

It is with great sadness that we have to announce that Gaby passed away  on Wednesday 10th July 2019.

Gaby was diagnosed with cancer in May but in the usual Gaby way he managed this with reality and a positive approach.

Over many years Gaby was a major contributor to the success of the The Costa Blanca Wine Society and held several positions as President, Vice President, Website manager, writing reports on tastings and trips and taking photos of our activities. He was also was a very active contributor as part of the Wine Trip team with his late wife Margaret.

We will miss him

Appreciating good wines since 1992

The society was founded by Anton Massel a former oenologist who decided he wanted to give wine tasting a wider audience and in 1992 formed the Costa Blanca Wine Society.

Our constitution sets out the objectives and activities of the Society which can be summarised as: increasing knowledge and appreciation of Spanish wines through meetings, tastings and visits to wine producing centres.   The Society is organised to meet these objectives.
