Dear Members

Our February Tasting was held at Javea Golf Club and was attended by 48 members and guests. We had an excellent presentation from Eduard Morell, owner of Vinyes del Terrer winery in Catalunya. His wines are an excellent reflection of the terroir on which his winery is based, 2 kilometres from the Mediterranean with calcareous soils from the ancient fragments of sea shells and limestone rock. We have separately written to all members to offer the opportunity to buy the wines tasted at excellent discounted rates. A full report on the tasting can be found here

During the month we launched our new public Facebook page with the aim of increasing awareness of the CBWS. This will help attract new members from a range of nationalities and demographic/geographic distributions. Our page will include photos of our events, advertise upcoming events, and contain a link to our website for more information on how to join us. It is important, if you do not want to be included in photos, that you let me know. The new Facebook page can be found by searching “Costa Blanca Wine Society”

Our next tasting will be held at Los Amigos restaurant in Javea on 21 March. It will be hosted by Tony and Gro Salter. The theme in Tony’s own words is;

“Three ‘expert’ presenters. Five delightful wines. Each presenter wants you to believe they’re describing the real wine, but only one actually is. Taste the wines, look into their eyes and decide. Will your table be the winners?”

The menu is as follows;

    – welcome cava

    – canape

    – pincho of crayfish and pineapple

    – mini burrata with basil pesto and avocado

    – meat filled caneloni

    – main course to choose from: chargrilled entrecote steak OR –

– fish of the day with broccoli cream

    – dessert of white chocolate brownie.

The April tasting will be at Ca La Iaia restaurant in Moraira on 18 April and will be hosted by Tim and Sandy Fawle, featuring an interesting selection of wines sourced from the wine distributor A Catarlo Todo in Teulada.
