Dear members

I hope that you have had an enjoyable month.

Since my last newsletter, members have enjoyed the Autumn wine trip (for the report click {HERE}) and the Tasting of Vinos de Pago led by Tony and Cherry (for the report click {HERE}).

In preparation for 2026, the Tasting Team has been busy planning the year ahead and the provisional venues, volunteers and event descriptions can be found {HERE}.

A note from our Treasurer: The committee do not intend to increase the subscription from last year, it will remain as €30 per person.  Therefore you are invited to pay your subscription from today, using the usual bank account (ES81 2100 9015 2102 0021 8418) and quoting the word “subscription” together with your surname in the concept field.

If on the other hand it is not your intention to renew it would be helpful if you let Helen the membership secretary know – Granville.Helen@outlook.com.

The Tasting on 20 November will be at a new venue for CBWS – El Poblet in Denia. Your welcome Cava will be available from 19.30, with dinner commencing at 20.00. A cash bar will be available for early arrivals, from 19.00. Numbers are limited to 72 at this event. The price for members is €45 and for guests €55.

Members wishing to book into Les Rotes hotel which is 2 kilometres from El Poblet can receive a discount by mentioning CBWS.

Neil and Vicki have made an amazing effort to select wines from around the world and Sue has worked closely with the restaurant to produce a high quality menu which pairs with the wines from each country. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A TASTING MENU SO ALL COURSES WILL BE SERVED TO EVERYONE. THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE IS TO ORDER VEGETARIAN WHICH WILL BE FOR ALL COURSES.

Pacific – Vegetarian poke with a coconut sauce

Japan  – Meat gyozas with seasonal vegetables and soy sauce

India   – Curried scallops

Argentina – Argentinian Entrecote with Chimichurri

Mauritius – Passionfruit mousse, gelee de mango and pineapple slices

Booking is now open and will close at midday on 14 November after which no more bookings can be made and there will be no refunds for cancellations. If we have available spaces, pending members will be able to book places from 10 November.

The following two events will be;

     On 11 December at Javea Yacht Club it will be the President’s gala evening with my choice of favourite wines, some fun quizzes/games and perhaps even a gift for attendees. This is usually a highly popular event so initially will be offered to members only.

     On January 15 we will be holding our first tasting of 2025 at Les Rotes in Denia. It will also be our AGM at which we review the activities of 2025 and the plans for 2026 and I will be standing down and handing over my role to your new President.
