Regina Viarium Godello – 2020 €12.50

100% godello from a D.O. that’s only been around since 1996 6h maceration, inox fermentation + 6 months on lees in oak barrels Yellow fruit aromas (slightly gummy). Rich flavours with a bitter citrus pith note Broad, textured and powerful with great length revealing dried fruit

Sierra Cantabria Organza – 2021 €15.68

Very good white Rioja, made with 58% Viura, 22% Malvasia and 20% Garnacha Blanca. Aged 9 months in French oak barrels. Bright straw yellow in color. Pear, green apple, vanilla and mineral notes on the nose. Medium-bodied, balanced, refreshing, crispy acidity, citrus fruit and mineral notes in the mouth, with good long finish.

Chivite Las Fincas – 2022. €10.43

Notes of cherry, raspberry, and strawberry with a hint of apple, peach, and melon. Light. Fresh. Very fun to drink. Dry. Sweet but not overpowering. Well-balanced.

Vera de Estenas Martinez Bermell – 2020 €11.52

100% Merlot. Malolactic fermentation in new 225 liter French oak barrels. Visual appearance: cherry red color, pronounced legs that slowly run down the glass. On the nose, notes of ripe red berries appear, with a background of violets. In the background, the notes of aging in new oaks appear with aromas of toast and vanilla. In the mouth it is fresh and balanced, fruity notes that remind us of the nose, round tannin. The aftertaste gives mineral and raspberry notes and has a long finish. A round wine.

Celler Dosterras Vermell – 2018. €9.95

Beautiful, the scent is almost sweet with layers of cherry and blackberry. Just as enchanting to taste with some oak backing up the fruity front of blackberry, blackcurrant and cherry. The sweetness doesn’t carry though but it is very well balanced with a nice tannin structure holding it firmly together.

A fun evening and a lively crowd. The tasting team (Tony, Gro and Tim) had lots of fun, but Gro was clearly the crowd’s favourite and it was clear that Tony and Tim were seen as poor snake-oil salesmen in comparison.
