Newsletter January 2024

You are reminded that the AGM will be held on Thursday 18th January 2023. The original notice issued with the December newsletter is copied below. There is one amendment to the notice which is that nominations for the vacant positions can be made until 11th January (previously 4th January.

Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting of the Costa Blanca Wine Society will be held on Thursday, 18th January, 2024 in Restaurant La Senia, Hotel Nou Roma, Denia.  The first call will be at 6pm with the meeting starting at 6.30pm (this is the time for members to arrive and be seated). The meeting is for members only. Guests are welcome to attend the tasting which will follow the AGM at 7.30pm.

At the meeting Tim Fawle will stand down as President and current Committee Member Neville Richardson has indicated his willingness to stand for election as President.  As the other Committee Members are continuing to stand for 2024 the only other vacant Committee position is that of ‘Vice President’.

In accordance with our statutes any member who would like to apply to stand for the position of ‘President’ or ‘Vice President, should please submit their application to the Secretary ( by Thursday 11th January 2024.

The AGM will be followed by a tasting at Restaurante La Senia in the hotel. The evening will be hosted by our New President who will for sure have some interesting wines to taste.

Dress code as always is smart casual with jackets and optional ties for men.

February Tasting, Javea Golf Club, February 15th

A presentation of wines from Bodega Vinyes del Terrer. The owner, Eduard, is well known to many of us who visited his bodega near Tarragona on a past Wine Trip.  He also did a virtual tasting with us during the Covid lockdown.  This promises to be an entertaining and interesting tasting of this bodega’s excellent wines.

March Tasting, Los Amigos Javea, March 21

“Whose Wine is it Anyway?” An entertaining evening hosted by Tasting Team members Tony and Gro Salter which will test our wine tasting abilities!
